Men find thinner women attractive because they associate their body shape with youth, fertility and a lower risk of disease.

This is according to a new study by the University of Aberdeen which found 'evolutionary fitness' determines what men find appealing. This contradicts earlier theories which suggest people are drawn to body types with more fat as they could historically survive a famine. Professor John Speakman, who co-ordinated the study, said that in evolutionary terms fitness was made up of two things: survival and the ability to reproduce.

In an earlier study, scientists discovered the ideal female body shape is leggy, tall and thin like Taylor Swift.

The very thinnest images with body mass index of around 19 were rated as most attractive. As fatness increased above that value, the less attractive they were rated.

The reason for the discrepancy was revealed when subjects were asked how old they thought the people in the images were. They judged that the fatter people were older. Age is itself a strong indicator of evolutionary fitness. This suggests that we find thinness in females so attractive because we equate it with youth and minimal risk of future disease. This was to be consistent across European, African and Asian test groups.

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who religiously make their bed every day in cleanliness and order… and the rest of us. If you’re in the latter group, then I’ve got some good news: keeping your bed messy might be good for your health.

The research was conducted by a team from the Kingston University in England; they used a computer model to predict how the dust mites fare in a range of different conditions – including on a made and non-made bed. They found that the mites flourish on neatly mate beds, but shrivel and dry otherwise.

“We know that mites can only survive by taking in water from the atmosphere using small glands on the outside of their body,” lead researcher Stephen Pretlove told the BBC when the research was released. “Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die.”

I’m hoping that soon they will prove that not making your bed is indeed detrimental to mites… or, you know, any reason to not make your bed.

Making people aged under 55 start work before 9am is akin to 'torture', according to one of the UK's leading sleep experts.

Dr Kelley, an honorary clinical research fellow at Oxford University's Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute, said there was a need for society to change work and school starting times to fit with the natural human body clock.

Forcing staff to work nine-to-five leaves their bodies exhausted and stressed as a result of sleep deprivation, says Dr Paul Kelley.

Lack of sleep has been found to affect attention and long-term memory and to encourage drug and alcohol abuse. It can also cause anger, anxiety, frustration, impulsive behaviour, weight gain, high blood pressure, stress and mental health problems.

Dr Kelley called for staggered start times at schools and workplaces as a result of research into the human body's 24 hour rhythms.

Younger children wake up early naturally meaning children from the age of ten should start school from 8.30am onwards. But for children aged 16 the school starting time should be 10am with an 11am start time from the age of 18.

As well as allowing young people to get more sleep, the later start times may decrease accidents from students going to school in the dark and make travel to school quicker as pupils would be able to avoid the rush hour.

This is a gripping and sometimes terrifying book that will make you look anew at your spouse, your parents, your children, your friends, your enemies, your fellow workers and - perhaps most pertinently - your reflection in the mirror.

Narcissus was the youth in Greek mythology who was so handsome everyone fell in love with him instantly. But all this adoration hardened his heart, and he became as well-known for his indifference to others as for his beauty. Eventually, the gods placed a curse on him, so that he, too, would know the pain of unrequited after, he happened to be passing a pond, caught sight of his own reflection and fell madly in love with it. So drawn was he to the reflection that he dived into the water to be with it and drowned.

In psychological terms, then, narcissism is one of the 'dark triad' of personality traits, along with Machiavellianism and Craig Malkin, a clinical psychologist and instructor at Harvard Medical School, defines it simply as 'the drive to feel special'. In moderation, one might ask, what is wrong with that?

If you are a nine or a ten on the Malkin scale, you're basically mentally ill. You have convinced yourself you're special, despite much evidence to the contrary. Whereas if you're a five, you have a good dose of what Dr Malkin calls 'healthy narcissism'. And if you are a zero or a one, you have a narcissism deficit. He then discusses where it all comes from - nurture rather than nature, for narcissist parents can wreak havoc on future generations. Most usefully of all, he gives five telltale signs to help you spot the narcissist in your midst.

Sign one is Displaying Emotion Phobia. Human interaction poses a scary problem for narcissists who are, deep down, extraordinarily insecure people. They shore up their self-confidence by imagining they are perfectly self-sufficient and impervious to other people's feelings. Sign two is Playing Emotional Hot Potato. Narcissists avoid their own horrible feelings by passing them on to others. They actually coerce you into experiencing the emotions they're trying to ignore in the first place.

Next is Exerting Stealth Control. Narcissists feel uneasy about asking for help. Much easier is to remain in charge, make all the decisions and impose them on others as faits accomplis. Fourth is Placing People On Pedestals. For narcissists the logic goes like this: if someone this special wants me, I must be pretty special, too. Watch out for the sycophants at work, or the boyfriend who says you're perfect and that he loves you before he's even got to know you.

Finally, there's Fantasising You're Twins. You know those couples who tell you they're alike in every way and that it's like looking in the mirror? Moderate narcissists, says Dr Malkin, can be 'turned' with care and attention. For extreme narcissists, however, there's not usually any way back. It's a pathological condition - the damage runs too deep.

RBF, as a label, has become the latest Internet craze. A historical review of the term indicates it originated in 2009, but Google trends show internet searches for the phrase really started to take off in the spring of 2013. RBF has since become the subject of countless memes, often featuring celebrity examples. The hype reached new heights of controversy when it was written up in The New York Times on Aug. 1.

The vast majority of coverage has so far focused on the disadvantages of RBF. But this narrative only tells part of the story. .

Research has shown that people rely heavily on facial expressions and body language. Psychologist Albert Mehrabian, of the University of California, Los Angeles, conducted famous studies in the 1960s that found that interpreting someone’s communication is based mostly on nonverbal cues, like facial expression, body language and tone. Women confronted by a world that automatically attaches negative attributes to their non-smiling face must quickly learn how to communicate and also hone a finely-tuned awareness of both our own emotions and the emotions of those around us.

And then there’s the empathy factor. Women used to being constantly misunderstood focus more on the words someone says, rather than their tone, body cues, or facial expressions, ensuring a more effective flow of information between both parties.

We're feeling a little misty-eyed thinking about true love. Well, you can create your own relationship success by looking for the right traits in a woman instead of just swiping right on everyone on Tinder.

 1. She's Independent

  1. 独立

No one gets into a relationship to be a babysitter. If she's had a rough day at work, it's great to be her shoulder to cry on. But if she can't seem to function without you, you'll eventually suffocate, and if you're smart you'll run for the nearest exit.

  2. She's Intelligent

  2.智慧

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the bimbo routine gets real old, real fast. A woman who can meet you at an intellectual level is a total turn-on. An intelligent woman will constantly surprise you and keep you on your toes. She won't let you get bored or complacent.

  3. She's Sexual

  3.性感

For instance, if you're into S&M and she's more the "fluffy lingerie" type, that's a problem. The two of you have to be on the same page.

  4. You're Attracted To Her

I know, this one is kind of obvious, but important nonetheless. Being seen with her should make you feel better about yourself. And this doesn't mean that she has to be a Heidi Klum clone. Your mutual attraction should make you both want to stay looking your best.

  5. She Respects You

This is a biggie. A great girlfriend will keep major disputes private rather than taking you down in public. She'll make an effort to see things from your point of view (provided you do the same for her). The key here is that the respect be mutual.

  6. She Lets You Be A Man

Man

Do not -- I repeat -- do not get involved with a woman who tries to get you to eat cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast and insists that you give up poker night with the guys. You will end up resenting her more than you can imagine. If she's a great girlfriend, she'll even bring you and your buddies a couple of beers and make you some of her famous sandwiches.

  7. She Doesn't Nag Without A Good Reason

We've never met a man who was convinced to change his behavior because of his girlfriend's nagging. A great girlfriend knows this and chooses her battles wisely. However, if you live together and you stay out all night without calling her. This is a situation that nobody would let slide -- not even a great girlfriend.

  8. She Gets Along With Your Friends And Family

She'll help your parents out at Thanksgiving, try to understand your brother's twisted sense of humor. Your friends won't roll their eyes and moan when you mention that she'll be joining you guys when she gets off work -- she's one of the crowd.

  9. She Loves You

If you have found a woman who loves you for who you really are and not who you pretend or try to be sometimes, you should definitely hang on to her.

Makes You Want To Be a Better Man

Any man who has a great girlfriend or wife will tell you that she makes him want to be a better man. She doesn't have to say or do anything; it just is that way. If you suddenly feel bad about how you treated your sister when you were younger or find yourself trying to get your finances in order to prepare for the future, you might want to think about your motivation for doing so. It could be love.
