英语专业八级考试要求掌握的词汇不少于8000，最好能有10000以上。英语专业八级考试是由高等学校外语专业教学指导委员会主办的(非教育部主办)，对英语专业高年级学生英语水平进行衡量的一种外语水平考试。是目前我国体现最高英语水平的等级考试。它在每年的三月份举办次，考试分为上午和下午两场，上午做听力、阅读、改错，下午做翻译和写作。对时间的要求比较严格。
